Inaugural Speech - 30 May 2007

Tradition, Mr Speaker, is seeping through the walls of this green Chamber, filling the air.  With a great sense of occasion and tradition I welcome those in the gallery as they, in a sense, welcome me to their NSW Parliament.  In accordance with a tradition as old as this green Chamber itself, I am delighted to deliver my inaugural speech as Member for Davidson.  I follow periods of admirable service from previous Members Healey, Metherell and Humpherson.  I also formally acknowledge that this Parliament sits on the traditional land of the Gadigal people of the Eora nation.  We are all but custodians.

“This Saturday, the people of Davidson have a very important choice to make - another four years of Labor making excuses for 12 years of mismanagement, or a change for the better.  Jonathan O'Dea, Liberal candidate for Davidson said.

“The reality is, if Labor wins thanks to their dishonest and negative advertising campaign, nothing will change. Michael Costa, Frank Sartor and Joe Tripodi will all be back making a mess of things all over again.

Jonathan O’Dea, Liberal candidate for Davidson, was so moved after hearing of the recent call to action from the Australian Red Cross Blood Service (ARCBS) that he immediately set up an appointment to give blood.

“I used to give blood, but my appointments became more and more infrequent until I hadn't been for a while.

"The State election gives North Shore voters their best opportunity to register their disgust with the way Labor Planning Minister Frank Sartor has desecrated many of our best suburbs", Liberal Candidate for Davidson, Jonathan O'Dea, said today.

This week Liberal Candidate for Davidson, Jonathan O'Dea, and supporters have been campaigning at local shopping centres.

"I have been keen to meet as many local shoppers and shop owners as possible to introduce myself and listen to their concerns", Jonathan O'Dea said.

Jonathan O'Dea the Liberal candidate for Davidson has strongly endorsed NSW Opposition Leader Peter Debnam’s 24/7 policing strategy to get real police stations and 1100 more police on the beat and on our roads.
