Member for Davidson, Jonathan O'Dea has officially signed on for his second term as the Member for Davidson.

The signing of the Roll of The House in the Legislative Assembly Chamber is one of the many formalities which made up the official opening of a new parliament this week.

The ceremonial opening, reflecting long-established traditions, also included an address to both Houses of Parliament by NSW Governor, Marie Bashir, in which she outlined the new government's program for the 55th Parliament.

"There are many new initiatives, some of which have already been announced, aimed at improving the lives of those within Davidson and NSW," Mr O'Dea said.

"The establishment of Infrastructure NSW, headed by former Premier and experienced company director, Nick Greiner, will identify and prioritise which roads, rail lines and other infrastructure NSW needs to help improve services and grow the NSW economy.

"An inquiry into Labor's sale of the Power Industry is another important initiative, while locally, construction of the new Level 5 Northern Beaches Hospital at Frenchs Forest will commence.

"The O'Farrell Government will also investigate the introduction of rapid bus transit lanes for Warringah Road and elsewhere to help improve traffic flow and reduce travel times," Mr O'Dea said.

"It is a great privilege to once again represent the electorate of Davidson and I thank the electorate for the overwhelming show of support at the March poll.

"Ultimately, the swing in Davidson, on a two-party preferred basis, increased from 74.7% to 86.5%, making it the second safest seat in the state after neighbouring Ku-ring-gai.

"I will continue to work hard for the electorate and honour the faith shown in me by its constituents," Mr O'Dea concluded.
