Member for Davidson, Jonathan O'Dea is continuing his strong stand against the NSW Government's heavy-handed approach to planning in Ku-ring-gai.
The local MP is "maintaining the rage" over the Government's failure to properly consult and fully take account of local ratepayers deep concerns regarding the impact of inappropriate development on the area.
"The result of the NSW Government's arrogant approach is another costly court case," Mr O'Dea said.
"I wish the Friends of Turramurra Inc (FOT) success in their legal action against the Minister for Planning, challenging the gazetted Town Centres Plan.
"The court case is commencing this week in the Land and Environment Court and I intend to attend part of the proceedings despite NSW Parliament's final week of sittings" Mr O'Dea said.
"However, it should never have come to this. Had the NSW Labor Government appropriately considered the views of local residents and the impact of inappropriate development on the unique Ku-ring-gai environment, legal action may have been avoided.
"This is not the first time the NSW Labor Government's high-handed approach to Ku-ring-gai planning has landed them in court.
"In 2008, Ku-ring-gai Council challenged the Minister for Planning in the Land and Environment Court over the appointment of the Ku-ring-gai Planning Panel.
"A NSW Liberals & Nationals Government, led by Barry O'Farrell, will dismiss this Labor- appointed planning panel and return its planning powers to democratically elected local councillors.
"It is an important issue for local electors to consider at the next state election in March.
"In the meantime, I wish the Friends of Turramurra well in the latest court challenge against a contemptuous and out-of-touch Labor Government," Mr O'Dea concluded.
