Member for Davidson, Jonathan O'Dea has issued a timely reminder that nominations for the 2011 NSW Woman of the Year Award are now open.
Mr O'Dea said he encouraged residents in the Davidson Electorate to nominate women who fit the description for this prestigious award.
The NSW Woman of the Year Award is held as part of the celebrations for International Women's Day, which is held on March 8 each year.
"From its inception International Women's Day has stood for equality between women and men," Mr O'Dea said.
"International Women's Day is about celebrating what women have done, are doing and can do," he said.
The criteria for the 2011 NSW Woman of the Year Award is:
· Significant achievement or contribution to the community which has resulted in progress for NSW women and/or girls.
· Demonstrated ability to motivate other women and/or girls to challenge themselves and make their own contributions.
· Demonstrated excellence and success in their field as a community leader, volunteer or above and beyond the expectations of their paid employment.
· Nominee is a female resident of NSW
· Nominee either lives in the electorate or has made a significant contribution to the electorate whilst living elsewhere in NSW.
"Nominations for the Award close on Monday 6 December 2010," Mr O'Dea said.
"Nomination forms can be obtained from the NSW Woman of the Year website www.women.nsw.gov.au or from my office on 9880 7400.
"I would encourage eligible women from Davidson to nominate or for others to nominate women who meet the criteria for NSW Woman of the Year," Mr O'Dea concluded.
