Member for Davidson, Jonathan O’Dea’s calls for funding of Commuter Car Parks at railway stations within the Davidson Electorate, have fallen on deaf NSW Labor ears.

Responses to Mr O’Dea’s written questions to the Minister for Transport have been disappointing.

“The Transport Minister latest reply indicates that there are no plans for this Labor government to build any commuter car parks for commuters in my electorate, specifically at Roseville, Lindfield, Killara, Gordon and Pymble rail stations.

This is despite the massive overdevelopment being imposed by this government, which will markedly increase population in the Ku-ring-gai Council area.  Where is the infrastructure planning and funding to help meet additional commuter needs?” asked Mr O’Dea.

After researching the issue, I can now reveal where the precious expenditure on building commuter car parks is being directed by the NSW Labor Government.

According to NSW Government’s June Budget, the Commuter Car Parks Project states there are 47 separate locations, either completed or work in progress.  However, of the 47, one was located in an Independent seat, and only one* was in a Liberals/Nationals seat.  45 were in Labor-held seats!

"We can now clearly see where the NSW Labor Government’s priorities lie and how they do not govern for all people in NSW", Mr O'Dea concluded.

* This changed after the June 2010 Budget was delivered, when Penrith elected a Liberal MP.
