Contrary to a written assurance from former Planning Minister and now Premier, Kristina Keneally, the NSW Labor Government has listed a Pymble home in Park Avenue, Pymble as a Heritage property in the recently gazetted Town Centres LEP.
“This is yet another example of where Premier Keneally and NSW Labor have been unable to get it right at the cost of ordinary NSW residents,” Mr O’Dea said.
“The owners of the property wrote to the former Planning Minister last year, outlining their concerns. Minister Keneally wrote back stating:
“I note your specific concerns relating to the proposed heritage listing .... I have been advised that the proposed heritage listing of the subject property was an error and that Ku-ring-gai Council staff are aware of this and are in the process of preparing the appropriate documentation to rectify this error …. Please be assured that when I receive the report, I will closely consider the issues you have raised in your letter as part of the broader review process.”
“Clearly this has not happened. Despite the written assurance by now Premier Keneally, the home has been included in a list of Pymble buildings, designated ‘Environmental Heritage’,” Mr O’Dea said.
“Today I lodged a formal written question of the Premier in NSW Parliament asking why this property has been included in the gazetted LEP, despite her personally informing the residents that the original proposal to zone their property as a Heritage item was an error in the draft version and would be rectified.
“I have also asked how many other properties were erroneously listed in the gazetted Town Centres LEP and what processes are now under way to address this unfortunate situation,” Mr O’Dea said.
