Three North Shore MPs teamed up yesterday for a diverse range of community events which included an ANZAC Commemorative Church Service, removing local graffiti and the annual Festival on the Green at St Ives.
Federal MP, Paul Fletcher and State MPs Barry O’Farrell and Jonathan O’Dea took part in a special ANZAC Commemorative Service at the Church of St John the Evangelist in Gordon.
On behalf of their communities, the three MPs honoured those who have fought in all theatres of war for the freedoms Australians enjoys today.
This was the last of a series of ANZAC Day commemorations which have been well supported by the local community.
Paul Fletcher and Jonathan O’Dea then travelled to Turramurra to join in a graffiti clean-up organised by local Rotary Clubs.
“I commend the Rotary Clubs for their ongoing campaign to clean up the scourge of unsightly graffiti in our community,” Mr O’Dea said.
“Over the weekend, a 400 metre thoroughfare near the intersection of Burns and Bobbin Head Roads was cleaned in support of Graffiti Action Day and I was only too happy to lend my support.
Mr Fletcher and Mr O’Dea then moved onto St.Ives for a “meet and greet” at the annual “Festival on the Green”.
“The annual family fun day provides an ideal opportunity to meet with constituents face-to-face in a relaxed atmosphere,” Mr O’Dea said.
“Having both Federal and State MPs together at the one location allows community members to raise a wide range of topics with their local MPs.
“It also provides us with an opportunity for community feedback on various State and Federal issues of concern,” Mr O’Dea concluded.
