This week’s burst water main on Mona Vale Road, St Ives and more problems with train breakdowns on the Harbour Bridge have again highlighted problems with ageing infrastructure on the North Shore, according to Member for Davidson, Jonathan O’Dea.
“As the infrastructure crumbles, the NSW Labor Government continues to push for overdevelopment in the Ku-ring-gai Council area,” Mr O’Dea said.
“Since elected as the Member for Davidson, I have consistently called for better planning outcomes and remain committed to the fight for more sensible planning in the Ku-ring-gai Council area.
“I have facilitated visits from the Planning Minister, Shadow Planning Minister, Shadow Environment Minister and this week, the Shadow Parliamentary Secretary for Planning, Rob Stokes.
“Mr Stokes met with Ku-ring-gai Mayor Ian Cross, Deputy Mayor Jennifer Anderson and myself and was then taken on a tour of the area by the Council leaders to witness the impact of poor planning policy, “Mr O’Dea said.
Following his visit, Mr Stokes said, “I was appalled to witness the scale of development proposed and the precedent it sets for future development.
“What is really upsetting is that the bulk of development is occurring within the most valuable heritage precincts,” Mr Stokes said.
“This week I have also held talks with the President of the Ku-ring-gai Residents Association, Chris Drummer and we will continue to fight Labor’s overdevelopment,” Mr O’Dea said.
“I understand the Planning Minister is close to announcing a decision on the Ku-ring-gai LEP. Along with the local community I will continue to fight for a fairer and more balanced share of new development and infrastructure renewal in our local area,” Mr O’Dea concluded.
