Member for Davidson, Jonathan O’Dea remains as committed as ever in his fight for sensible planning in the Ku-ring-gai Council area.
“Along with Member for Ku-ring-gai, Barry O’Farrell, I have fought long and hard against inappropriate planning and overdevelopment, having raised relevant issues on many occasions in the Parliament as well as through the media.
“We will continue to do so on behalf of our local community,” Mr O’Dea said.
“In the last 12 months I have taken part in 30 formal meetings with authorities and community representatives regarding Ku-ring-gai planning matters, including three personally arranged with the Minister for Planning and community representatives.
“One of these meetings included a Ministerial tour of the Ku-ring-gai area to highlight the impact of inappropriate planning,” Mr O’Dea said.
“Over the past two years I have also:
· Issued 30 media releases on Ku-ring-gai Council planning related matters
· Spoken 14 times in Parliament, raising concerns about local overdevelopment and planning
· Asked 30 Ministerial Questions on Notice on these topics alone.
“Additionally, I have been distributing significant information as a local MP via mailed newsletters, letterbox drops and train station flyers as well as addressing countless meetings and correspondence with private individuals.
“I have constantly maintained that Ku-ring-gai must take its fair share of new dwellings, but no more than the target of 10,000 by 2031, as agreed pursuant to the NSW Metropolitan Planning Strategy.
“I will continue my strong opposition to inappropriate overdevelopment and believe that the local community should be united in its fight against an uncaring NSW Labor Government,” Mr O’Dea concluded.
