The weekend marked the first anniversary of Nathan Rees as Premier of NSW, but for the people of this state, there is little to celebrate, according to the Member for Davidson, Jonathan O’Dea.

“All we have in NSW is more of the same:

  • Trains on the North Shore line are still overcrowded, with reduced services proposed north of Chatswood from October.
  •  Hospitals are still in crisis and there’s still no commencement of work on the desperately needed Northern Beaches Hospital at Frenchs Forest.
  • More people are out of work, with NSW unemployment higher than other states.
  • Traffic congestion on the Pacific Highway, Eastern Arterial, Warringah Road, Mona Vale Road and other key thoroughfares is getting worse.
  • Fewer cops on the beat, with authorised police levels still not being delivered.

“I encourage people to log on to www.startthechange.com.au and send the Premier a message, that we’ve had enough.

“We’ve had enough of Labor’s excuses and in-fighting as NSW falls apart and falls behind other states,” Mr O’Dea said.

“Nathan Rees promised to give it a ‘red hot go’ when he became Premier.  If that’s the best he can do, then he should call it quits.  He should give the people of NSW a say in who runs this state, and call an election.

“It’s time to start the change in NSW to deliver better public transport and hospitals, create jobs and build infrastructure, and return police to our communities,” he said.

“The NSW Liberal/Nationals have positive, practical plans to restore the economy through lower taxes and support for business.

“Our positive and practical plans will return NSW to its rightful place; the leading state. We encourage people to join us in starting the change for the better”, Mr O’Dea concluded.
