Member for Davidson, Jonathan O’Dea is calling for citizens living within the Davidson electorate to consider nominating someone worthy for the 2010 NSW Seniors Week Achievement Awards.
The NSW Seniors Week awards recognise seniors from across the state for their contribution to the community, leadership and initiative.
There are 60 awards available throughout NSW for outstanding groups or individuals in the following categories:
· Business
· Intergenerational Understanding
· Environment /Science /Agriculture
· Health and Wellbeing
· Education /Lifelong Learning
· Community Service/ Volunteering
The 2010 NSW Seniors Week Achievement Award recipients will be presented their awards on Monday, 22 March 2010.
“These awards highlight the contribution those over 60 make to the community during a week long celebration across the state,” Mr O’Dea said.
“2010 NSW Seniors Week will be held from 21 to 28 March next year and will feature community activities as well as the awards ceremony for the recipients of NSW Seniors Week Achievement Awards.”
“Grant applications are still open for community groups who would like to host an event for 2010 NSW Senior’s Week, promoting the role seniors play within the community and endorsing healthy activity, socialisation and challenging older person stereotypes.”
Mr O’Dea said that nomination forms and grant applications are available by contacting the Davidson electorate office, with nominations for the Achievement Awards closing on 25 September 2009.
