Davidson MP, Jonathan O’Dea is taking the Government to task over the management of the WSN Environmental Services facility at Belrose.
“Members of the local and broader community deserve to be treated honestly and openly over the ongoing management and development of the WSN Belrose site,” Mr O’Dea said.
“This appears not to have happened, leaving members of the community with little faith in agreements or guarantees provided by the Government-owned WSN Corporation.
“As a result, I have put the Government on notice by lodging six sets of questions over the operation and management of WSN and particularly its Belrose facility,” Mr O’Dea said.
“The questions are broad-ranging and cover past assurances and conditions, possible changes to those community commitments, the approval of an additional 160,000 tonnes of garbage, the dumping of sewage-related waste, and the indexation of enhancement fund levies” he said.
“I am calling on the Government to be honest and upfront with the local community and provide residents with reasonable certainty into the future.
“I continue to believe that the public interest and proper process for considering proposed additional garbage landfill requires the lodging of a development application to Warringah Council, as WSN previously promised.
“Tomorrow I will also introduce a Notice of Motion in the Legislative Assembly, expressing concern over the way the State Government-owned WSN Environmental Solutions has been conducting garbage landfill operations at Belrose.
“It’s time the Government and WSN came clean over the future management and dumping of garbage at the Belrose site,” Mr O’Dea concluded.
