Member for Davidson, Jonathan O’Dea, has slammed the State Labor Government’s outrageous behaviour after realising it was unable to bulldoze its power industry privatisation through parliament.

“In a child-like, state-sized dummy spit, NSW Labor has resorted to threatening government services – despite the Treasurer claiming the recent State budget would NOT depend on selling off the power industry,” Mr O’Dea said.

“In one of the most reprehensible attacks, the Minister for Disability Services, Kristina Keneally, threatened removal of services for the disabled in Opposition held seats.

The Carers Alliance has described the Minister’s outburst as treating “people with a disability and their families as political pawns”.

As an Alliance spokesman said, “This misuse of executive power is cruel, vindictive, capricious, unjust and shows that this government will stop at nothing to get its way”.

The Member for Davidson wants to know what else is under threat.

“Is the much-needed funding for local schools, like Killara High School, now in jeopardy?

“What of the often-promised and much-delayed Frenchs Forest Hospital?

“Could it be that the government might further reduce local train or bus services?

“Over the past 13 years, many billions of dollars in unbudgeted revenue has been received by the Government, but there is little to show for it,” Mr O’Dea said.

“This has left the electorate sceptical over the Labor Government’s ability to properly manage and distribute any proceeds from the sale of the power industry.

“Labor’s poor management is now not only reflected in economic figures but in the outrageous behaviour of Ministers who, when defeated on the floor of parliament, resort to threats and intimidation in an effort to cover their deplorable record,” Mr O’Dea concluded.
