Residents from Belrose have been recently alarmed about the possible widening of Glen Street, Belrose, according to the State Member for Davidson, Jonathan O’Dea.
“After investigating the matter with Warringah Council, then Energy Australia, I established that Glen Street, alongside Lionel Watts Oval, was being pegged by Energy Australia for upgrading of power lines for the Glenrose Shopping Centre,” Mr O’Dea said.
Energy Australia is currently in its design stage and has the pegs marked by their surveyors for preliminary investigation for possible routes of underground cables.
“The concern that Lionel Watts Park was being encroached on to widen Glen Street therefore appears unfounded.
“We are relieved that there is no proposal for Glen Street to be widened for heavy traffic or any other purpose. This work by Energy Australia is temporary and the explanation should allay concerns of local residents,” Mr O’Dea said.
Regarding the latest Glenrose Shopping Centre development application, Warringah Council is due to provide a report to the Independent Hearing & Assessment Panel (IHAP) for consideration on 17 June 2008.
