NSW Opposition Leader Barry O’Farrell today announced Davidson MP Jonathan O’Dea would be promoted to head the NSW Liberal/Nationals’ WasteWatch committee.

“The Opposition’s WasteWatch committee is crucial to holding the Iemma Government to account, by highlighting wasteful Labor spending and mismanagement of programs,” Mr O’Farrell said.
“Jonathan is ably equipped to take on this role after an impressive start to his parliamentary career,” he said.

“Jonathan has proven to be a strong advocate for the Davidson electorate and will take on this task with great enthusiasm.

“I believe Jonathan has the potential to become a real thorn in the side of the Iemma Government,” he said.

Mr O’Dea had considerable business experience before entering Parliament at the 2007 Election.

He’s been a director of private health insurer HCF since 1995, as well as previously holding senior management positions within the financial and insurance sectors for over a decade. Prior to that he worked as a lawyer for five years.

Mr O’Dea has an arts degree, two law degrees and an MBA.

Mr O’Dea succeeds Lane Cove MP Anthony Roberts as WasteWatch Chair, who has been promoted into Shadow Cabinet as Shadow Minister for Emergency Services and Shadow Minister for Juvenile Justice.
