Customers of Roseville Station will benefit from a $450,000 project to resurface and upgrade station platforms on the busy North Shore Line.

Member for Davidson, Jonathan O’Dea, said the work is necessary as the platform surface at Roseville Station is starting to become quite rough and uneven.

“It’s time the platform is replaced for the safety of customers and staff, as well as to provide an appealing environment at the station,” Mr O’Dea said.

The work is timed to be carried out during planned trackwork to minimise the impact on commuters.

The first weekend of work was during March, with the final weekend of work planned for 3 and 4 May.

Mr O’Dea said, “The opportunity will also be taken to install tactile tiles to help visually impaired customers identify the edge of the platform. The tiles also provide an important safety aid to the general public.

“New guttering and fencing will also be installed at the station as part of the project,” Mr O’Dea said.

The upgrading follows recent repairs to a retaining wall on the eastern side of Roseville station, parallel to the street. The repairs were undertaken in keeping with the wall’s heritage value.

On top of the improvements at Roseville station, a wider station refresh program is underway, which will see around $20 million spent on improving a number of key stations this financial year. These include St Leonards to the south of the Davidson electorate and Asquith to the north.
