Member for Davidson, Jonathan O’Dea has encouraged interested teachers to apply for the 2014 round of the NSW Premier’s Teacher Scholarships.
Mr O’Dea said 22 scholarships in 12 program areas are on offer for teachers in NSW Government and Non-Government Schools and TAFE NSW Institutes.
“The scholarships give teachers the opportunity to study overseas, carry out research in an area of interest, and further their professional growth and development,” Mr O’Dea said.
“The scholarships are designed to enhance and enrich the learning experiences of students by giving their teachers a unique opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge in their chosen field of expertise.”
Over 370 teachers have taken part in the scholarship program since its inception in 1999.
They have returned to their classrooms inspired and re-invigorated to share new teaching methods, skills, and knowledge with students.
The scholarships cover a number of teaching disciplines including information technology, history, early childhood education and special education.
“The scholarships, which are made available due to the generous support of corporate partners and private foundations, provide a tremendous learning opportunity for both teachers and their students,” Mr O’Dea said.
Applications for the scholarships close on Friday, 2 May 2014.
