Member for Davidson, Jonathan O’Dea has reminded local councils and community groups that time is running out to apply for 2014 NSW Seniors Week Grants.

The 2014 NSW Seniors Week will be held from 15 to 23 March and the NSW Seniors Week Grants program is integral to the celebrations.

“The grants provide seed funding for local councils and community organisations to create and deliver events during NSW Seniors Week next year,” Mr O’Dea said.

“The events can be wide-ranging so long as they benefit seniors and help celebrate senior years.

“It is up to the community to put forward their ideas for consideration and possible assistance funding,” Mr O’Dea said.

The NSW Government has allocated $200,000 for the 2014 NSW Seniors Week Grants program, which is $25,000 more than in previous years.

“By providing more organisations across NSW with funding, we should achieve greater reach and participation in NSW Seniors Week celebrations,” Mr O’Dea said.

There are two categories of funding, providing grants of up to $500 and grants of $1,000.

Applications for the 2014 NSW Seniors Week Grants program close on Friday, 6 September 2013 and may be submitted at www.nswseniorsweek.com.au

“I look forward to many successful applications from the Davidson electorate so that the older members of our community are duly honoured and their contribution celebrated.

“I strongly encourage local councils and community groups to lodge applications for Seniors Week grants,” Mr O’Dea said.
