Member for Davidson, Jonathan O’Dea has welcomed the NSW Government’s commitment to provide over 200 new and additional buses at a cost of $92 million in 2013-14.

“Among the services to benefit will be Route 194 between St Ives Chase and the Sydney CBD,” Mr O’Dea said.

“There will also be additional morning and afternoon peak period services, providing a welcome boost to public transport to and from the St Ives area,” he said.

A new 8:30 morning service will be introduced from St Ives via St Ives Chase to the City. In the evening, four additional inbound services to the City will be provided after 4.45pm and five additional outbound services added from 4.30pm.

All inbound 194 services will now also stop at Smith Street, on Eastern Valley Way, East Chatswood.

“In government, the NSW Liberals and Nationals have added more than 2,800 weekly bus services across the State and this year’s investment in growth buses shows we are not stopping there,” Mr O’Dea said.

“The new buses are air-conditioned as we know it is really important for local commuters to travel in comfort during the winter and summer months,” he said.

The buses will also be fitted with GPS tracking so they can be monitored for on-time running and provide ‘live’ information for apps, allowing customers to determine how long they will need to wait for their transport.

The new buses will also be wheelchair accessible and fitted with the latest safety technology.

“The St Ives area has seen strong growth in dwelling numbers and the new services will add significantly to the provision of public transport for an increasing population,” Mr O’Dea said.
