Motorists will benefit from reduced congestion on Mona Vale Road with a 95 metre right turn bay extension into Pentecost Avenue now open to traffic.

Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) consulted with local residents and Ku-ring-gai Council on the proposal to improve traffic flow on Mona Vale Road in October 2012.

RMS started work in April this year to remove the old concrete median, resurface the road and carry out line marking.

Member for Davidson, Jonathan O’Dea said, “The lane extension aims to reduce congestion by moving cars waiting to turn from the through lane into a dedicated turn bay.”

“The project opened to traffic three weeks early which is great news for motorists and the RMS thanks motorists and residents for their patience while work was carried out.”

Mr O’Dea said, “Responses from a recent electorate-wide survey have shown roads infrastructure is the fastest-growing issue of interest within my local community.

“When compared to the findings of a similar survey five years ago, roads infrastructure rocketed from 7.6% to 20.7% as the most important issue.

Mr O’Dea said, “The NSW Government is already responding, including through moves to build the F3-M2 missing link in conjunction the private sector.

“These road improvements will assist with traffic flow and reduce travel times,” Mr O’Dea said.
