Member for Davidson, Jonathan O’Dea is calling on eligible families to take advantage of the NSW Government’s Family Energy Rebate before the 14 June deadline.
While the Division of Energy is continuing to process applications, hundreds of thousands of eligible families are yet to apply for the assistance measure that helps households manage their electricity bills.
“More than 900 local households are eligible to receive the Family Energy Rebate as a credit on their electricity bill,” Mr O’Dea said.
“With three weeks left to apply for the 2012/13 rebate, I urge families to take advantage of the Government assistance on offer. The simple online application form means the process to apply for the rebate has never been easier.
“The money is there, the assistance is available and the Government wants eligible families to take advantage of this funding. No eligible family will miss out on receiving the rebate for this financial year if applications are received by 14 June,” Mr O’Dea said.
“If also eligible for the NSW Government’s Low Income Household Rebate, households can receive more support in the form of an annual combined capped rebate of $250. This will provide welcome relief to households struggling to manage electricity bills,” he said.
The $75 rebate rises to $125 from 1 July and to $150 by 2014, and is available to NSW households who currently receive the Commonwealth Government’s Family Tax Benefit A or B.
“Over 940,000 households are eligible to receive a range of NSW Government assistance measures, including the Family Energy Rebate,” Mr O’Dea said.
“At every level we are taking action to address rising electricity prices and working hard to protect those most in need.”
Applications for the Family Energy Rebate are available online at http://www.energy.nsw.gov.au/customers/rebates/family-energy-rebate or by contacting the NSW Government Energy Information Line on 1300 136 888.
