Roads have rocketed up the list of priorities for people in the Davidson electorate.
A survey sent to every household in the electorate by local MP, Jonathan O’Dea has provided useful and informative feedback on top issues.
The results were compared to the findings of a similar survey five years ago, revealing the trends in matters of most importance.
The top three ranking issues in the latest survey are hospitals and health (down from 34.4% to 22.1%) overdevelopment (down from 31.7% to 21.4%), and road infrastructure (up from 7.6% to 20.7%).
“This reflects an increasing local importance placed on road issues,” Mr O’Dea said.
“The NSW Government has already responded with moves to build the F3-M2 missing link in conjunction with the Federal Government and the private sector.
“Upgrading the busy Warringah Road/Wakehurst Parkway and Warringah Road/Forest Way intersections should become a greater priority in the lead up to the opening of the new Northern Beaches Hospital in 2018”.
“Floodproofing the Wakehurst Parkway will also need to be addressed when the new hospital opens. I am confident it will be,” Mr O’Dea said.
The road improvements should assist with traffic flow and reduce travel times.
The potential introduction of bus rapid transit lanes linking the Northern Beaches, including on Warringah Road, would also assist with traffic movement. People switching to quicker public transport results in less vehicles on busy arterial roads.
From a broader NSW perspective, the largest road project is the WestConnex, which will include capacity improvements on existing roads and new sections of motorway to better link Sydney’s west with Sydney Airport and the Port Botany precinct. The NSW Government has already committed $1.8 billion towards this road project.
“I want to thank the hundreds of people who took the time to complete the 2013 Davidson Survey and return it so I can better understand and effectively represent the views of my electorate,” Mr O’Dea said.
