Together with the Member for Ku-ring-gai, Barry O’Farrell, the Member for Davidson, Jonathan O’Dea has successfully lobbied for an additional local community discussion forum on the NSW Government’s Planning White Paper.
“Many people are passionate about planning because it goes to the heart of local development, impacting on lifestyle and the general amenity of a local area,” Mr O’Dea said.
“The NSW Liberal & Nationals Government acted soon after the 2011 election to return planning powers back to Ku-ring-gai Council and remove the Labor-appointed planning panel.
“The new government also abolished Part 3A of the EP&A Act, which Ministers had abused to ‘call-in’ developments for State rather than local consent.
“Now, following considerable community consultation on a Planning Green Paper, a Planning White Paper has been released which can be accessed for review and comment at: www.planning.nsw.gov.au/newplanningsystem .
“Discussion forums on the White Paper commenced with a session in Hornsby last week and I am delighted there will be an additional forum for the Ku-ring-gai Council area,” Mr O’Dea said.
“The forum will be held at the Roseville Golf Club on 12 June, starting at 6.00 pm.
Those wishing to attend should register online at: http://events.planning.nsw.gov.au/Public/SelectEvent.aspx
“The additional discussion forum will provide a further opportunity for people to learn of proposals and have input into the NSW planning process.
“I would encourage everyone with an interest in local planning issues to attend,” Mr O’Dea said.
