Member for Davidson, Jonathan O'Dea has welcomed a scheduled upgrading of Mona Vale Road from Belrose to Terrey Hills.
"This is a busy arterial road, providing a major link between the north shore and the northern beaches," Mr O'Dea said.
"Furthermore, it can carry additional traffic during the warmer months as many residents head to the coast for a range of summer activities, including surfing, boating and swimming.
"It is important the main road is maintained to a high standard to meet regular demands as well as those over the holiday period," Mr O'Dea said.
Downer EDI, on behalf of Roads and Maritime Services (RMS), will carry out night maintenance work on Mona Vale Road between Forest Way at Belrose and McCarrs Creek Road at Terrey Hills.
Asphalt replacement and line marking work will be carried out from 8pm to 5am between Sunday 16 and Thursday 20 December, weather permitting.
The work aims to create a stronger road surface to improve road safety on Mona Vale Road.
There will be partial lane closures during the work to create a safe working space.
Electronic signs and traffic controllers will be on site to direct motorists.
Substantial effort is being made to minimise the impact of noise on local residents and business operators.
Mr O'Dea said, "Motorists are advised to drive with caution, obey all signs, including reduced speed limits, and allow extra travel time."
