The NSW Parliament''s Public Accounts Committee has welcomed a report from a citizens' jury on the future of electricity in NSW.
Committee's Chair, Jonathan O'Dea said, "The citizens' jury is an innovative process to involve ordinary people in a parliamentary Inquiry, The participants met over several days and sought advice from experts in the field."
Two citizens' policy juries were convened by the NewDemocracy Foundation, a non-profit research organisation which promotes deliberative decision-making. As part of the Committee's Inquiry into the Economics of Energy Generation, groups in Sydney and Tamworth were asked their views about the best ways to ensure that the state's energy needs are met in the future.
"These reports will be published on the Committee's website, and their recommendations will be considered as part of the Committee's Inquiry process," Mr O'Dea said.
"On behalf of the Committee, I would like to thank all those who participated in these groups. These citizens gave their time and energy to help the Committee, and we look forward to considering their recommendations in detail," Mr O'Dea said.
