Member for Davidson, Jonathan O'Dea has welcomed a significant boost to police numbers for the Local Area Commands (LACs) covering the Davidson electorate.
The Ku-ring-gai LAC will receive 5 additional officers, North Shore will receive 4, while the Northern Beaches LAC will be boosted by 13 extra police.
"NSW Police are often faced with a challenging and at times thankless task to help keep law and order," Mr O'Dea said.
"Whether it is addressing anti-social behaviour, traffic enforcement or criminal investigations, NSW Police undertake a vital role in assisting the community to live in a safe and peaceful environment.
"This year's state budget includes $178 million in recurrent funding over the next four years to bring the NSW Police Force to a record strength of 16,356 officers by June 2014.
"With today's graduation of 437 new Police Officers, the authorised strength will be boosted to 16,016 or just 340 under the June 2014 target," Mr O'Dea said.
NSW Police Minister, Michael Gallacher said, "The NSW Government is on track to delivering record police numbers and has also delivered on its commitment to establish a new Police Transport Command and dedicated Highway Patrol Command.
"Both will continue to support Local Area Commands but the new structure will enhance their capabilities to deliver the best outcomes for the community," he said.
Mr O'Dea said, "I congratulate the new graduates and wish them well in their new careers.
"In particular, I look forward to the new recruits taking up duty in the Ku-ring-gai, North Shore and Northern Beaches LACs, covering the Davidson electorate," Mr O'Dea concluded.
