Sydney Water Media Release:

Sydney Water is currently spending more than $1 million on water and wastewater infrastructure in St Ives and Turramurra.

The comprehensive work includes repairing a large section of wastewater pipe in Garigal National Park, and renewing water mains in The Mall, Turramurra and Cambourne Avenue, St Ives.

The work was welcomed by Member for Davidson, Jonathan O’Dea.

“It’s great Sydney Water is investing such a significant amount in our water and wastewater systems,” Mr O’ Dea said. “This work will ensure thousands of homes continue to have reliable water and wastewater services, which also protects public health and the environment.”

Sydney Water Managing Director Kevin Young said the investment is part of a broader $177.3 million spend across Sydney Water’s water distribution systems and sewer networks for 2012-13.

“We provide water and wastewater services to more than four million people across the Sydney,

Illawarra and the Blue Mountains,” he said. “This investment will help ensure reliable service for our customers.”

During the work Sydney Water will work with local Councils, the Office of Environment and Heritage, the RMS local residents and businesses to minimise construction impacts and inconvenience.
