Member for Davidson, Jonathan O'Dea has welcomed the NSW Government's announcement of additional commuter parking facilities at Lindfield and Gordon.

"This is great news for park-and-ride commuters who will now have access to more parking spaces adjacent to Gordon and Lindfield stations," Mr O'Dea said.

“The initiative will help promote the use of public transport, relieve traffic congestion on the Pacific Highway and provide a tangible benefit for North Shore commuters," Mr O'Dea said.

At Lindfield, an additional 240 car spaces will be established, along with a Kiss and Ride Zone at an estimated cost of $34 million.

At Gordon, more than 160 spaces will be provided at two locations – one either side of the station. There will be an associated upgrade of the busy Gordon bus interchange at a total project cost of $44 million.

Transport for NSW has now started work on the design, land acquisition and planning approval process for each project.

The level of investment required for each, and size of the projects, may change as this detailed work is undertaken.

"In Opposition I repeatedly highlighted the need for commuter car parks on the North Shore and I am delighted the O'Farrell Government is now delivering for previously neglected commuters in our area," Mr O'Dea said.

"A recent Transport for NSW survey has indicated the availability of commuter car parking is a key factor in people deciding whether to use public transport.

“This initiative demonstrates the NSW Government is determined to improve services for the residents of the Davidson Electorate and the broader North Shore,” Mr O'Dea concluded.
