Member for Davidson and Chair of the Armenian-Australian Parliamentary Friendship Group, Jonathan O'Dea has acknowledged Mr Varant Meguerditchian's dedicated and enthusiastic service.

Mr Meguerditchian is the retiring Executive Director of the Armenian National Committee of Australia (ANC) and has accepted a new career opportunity.

Varant has been associated with the ANC organisation for 12 years, has been President of the ANC for 6 years, and its inaugural Executive Director for the past 18 months.

“Mr Meguerditchian has been a strong advocate on matters relating to the Armenian community in Australia and beyond.

"He has helped advance the causes of the Armenian-Australian community by influencing and guiding Government policy on matters of interest to his community; fostering public awareness in support of a free, independent and united Armenia; representing his community's viewpoint; and serving as an effective liaison between the community and elected public officials.

"I thank Varant for his friendship, advocacy and passionate leadership," Mr O'Dea said.

"I also congratulate Mr Vache Kahramanian on his appointment as the new ANC Australia Executive Director and look forward to working with him more closely," concluded Mr O'Dea.
