The NSW Parliament's Public Accounts Committee will be visiting power stations on the Central Coast today. The Committee will be visiting the Vales Point and Colongra power stations on the Central Coast as part of its inquiry into the Economics of Energy Generation.
The Committee has received submissions from stakeholders across the energy industry, from large electricity companies as well as advocates of nuclear, wind and solar energy.
"This is a serious issue. Energy security affects everyone. We aim to consult widely in formulating recommendations for how power generation might meet the future needs of our growing population in a reliable and affordable way," Chair of the Committee, Jonathan O'Dea MP said.
The Committee will be holding public hearings in March and will also be using innovative methods to engage with the community.
"I am pleased that the Committee will be working with the New Democracy Foundation to canvass the public's views about alternative sources of energy that might help secure future energy needs. This is an exciting project which will help inform the Committee's deliberations," Mr O'Dea concluded.
