There is still time for frustrated landowners and businesses to have their say on how the Planning System should operate in NSW.

Member for Davidson, Jonathan O'Dea has thanked local residents for taking part in the State’s most ambitious consultative roadshow in decades.

“Our local residents were among 2000 people across the state to take part in the once-in-a-generation NSW Planning Review roadshow.

“For the first time in three decades the NSW Government is undertaking a full review of the NSW Planning System – finding out what works, what needs changing and what is causing undue frustration to local planners and residents.

“After 91 community consultation sessions and 70 stakeholder meetings, the NSW Planning Review team has released an Issues Paper outlining the key themes and questions raised along the way.

“This is just the start of the consultation phase –  the Issues Paper poses its own questions and seeks further feedback from the community in areas including development assessment, plan-making, appeals, reviews and compliance.

“I am urging all members of the community to have a look at the questions posed by the Issues Paper and make further submissions to the Planning Review about how they want the NSW Planning System to operate.

“Planning Review co-chairs Ron Dyer and Tim Moore held almost 100 community consultation sessions during their four month tour and say local residents want a simpler, cheaper and more flexible planning system.

“Our community has yet another chance to ensure local issues are heard and I’m asking all residents to view the Planning Review Issues Paper and send submissions before the closing date of February 17, 2012,” Mr O'Dea said.
