Member for Davidson, Jonathan O'Dea has welcomed a return of savings made by Davidson Schools to help address their maintenance and infrastructure needs.

Mr O'Dea said, "National School Pride (NSP), as part of the Building the Education Revolution (BER) Program, delivered up to $200,000 to eligible schools to undertake construction of small scale infrastructure and/or minor refurbishment projects.

"The NSW Government has successfully negotiated with the Commonwealth Government for savings in this program to be returned to individual schools to help address the previous NSW Government's school maintenance liability and infrastructure backlog.

"Only schools who received NSP funds and were under budget will receive the additional funds that have been negotiated by the NSW Government," Mr O'Dea said.

"As part of our Local Schools, Local Decisions policy framework, the Minister for Education, Adrian Piccoli has determined that the additional funds will be directly given back to schools and then individual school principals, in consultation with local school communities, can decide how best to spend the additional money.

"I am pleased to say that for the Davidson Electorate $22,631.00 has been made available to local schools," Mr O'Dea said.

"Mimosa Public School in Frenchs Forest will receive the largest portion with an allocation of $17,717.00 while St Ives Public School will receive $4,914.00.

"The funding will be a welcome boost to the respective school communities," Mr O'Dea said.

"The expenditure on maintenance and/or infrastructure will help ensure the facilities for the teachers, staff and students are the best they can be," Mr O'Dea concluded.
