St Ives Public School is set to be "flushed" with success after it was approved for a joint funding project to upgrade toilet facilities.

Member for Davidson, Jonathan O'Dea has welcomed the approval by NSW Education Minister Adrian Piccoli for funding the new toilets out of the 2011-12 State Budget.

"The Government's first budget delivered on key election commitments and addressed important issues which developed over many years, including the previous Government's maintenance liability and infrastructure backlog," Mr Piccoli stated.

The joint funding program provides funding to schools on a dollar-for-dollar basis, with the school providing at least 50% of the total estimated cost of a nominated project and the Department providing the remainder.

In this instance, the Department will be allocating $30,000.

"The joint funding program provides a real incentive to schools to raise funds within their community, with Government recognising and supporting local school-based initiatives," Mr O'Dea said.

"I am pleased that funding for this important project has been approved as part of the Barry O'Farrell-led Government's efforts to improve school facilities across the State," Mr O'Dea concluded.
