Member for Davidson, Jonathan O’Dea is encouraging the electorate to thank paramedics for their wonderful service to the community.
First held in 2008, Thank a Paramedic Day is a publicly celebrated awareness day to recognise the work of NSW Ambulance paramedics.
Mr O’Dea said, “Paramedics are role models within our community, who we look upon with the highest admiration. They are there for us 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, every day of the year.
“Days like Thursday, 5 November recognise the importance of frontline emergency care and the trauma faced so regularly by our first responders.
“When the community needs you, you are there, and for that, we say thank you.” Mr O’Dea said.
NSW Ambulance is an integral part of the State’s health care system, providing emergency pre-hospital care and transport, medical retrieval services, and a significant proportion of non-emergency patient transport services.
Last year, NSW paramedics undertook over 1.1 million emergency and non-emergency responses. This is equivalent to an ambulance responding to someone across NSW every 28 seconds.
