Member for Davidson, Jonathan O’Dea, has welcomed the NSW State Budget.
Mr O’Dea said the budget reflects the benefits of a disciplined fiscal policy over the past four years and provides a sound basis to continue with budget surpluses, build new infrastructure and provide for the vulnerable in our community.
“The Davidson Electorate will especially benefit through major commitments to health, road works and education facilities,” Mr O’Dea said.
“Ongoing work on the new Level 5 Northern Beaches Hospital at Frenchs Forest will ensure the project remains on track to be completed by late 2018.
“It is an excellent example of the NSW Liberals and Nationals Government delivering on their commitment to provide much needed infrastructure.
“The hospital is the catalyst for major new road works, which will bring far reaching benefits to Northern Sydney motorists,” he said.
“The budget ensures the upgrading of state and local roads around the new hospital site will continue, and be in place to meet increased traffic flows,” Mr O’Dea said.
Funding has also been allocated to continue upgrading Boundary Street, Roseville under the Pinch Point program. The intersection of Boundary Street with the Pacific Highway is one of the busiest in the electorate. The new road works are designed to improve traffic flows and reduce travel times.
An additional $400,000 has been provided to install a cyclists shoulder on Mona Vale Road at Forest Way. The new facility is expected to improve traffic movement and cyclist safety.
The Davidson Electorate will benefit from a major new Education precinct on the University of Technology (UTS) site at East Lindfield. The budget funds planning to provide over 2,000 Kindergarten to Year 12 students, a 40 place pre-school, and a 100 place Out of School Hours Care Centre.
The precinct will also house the Department of Educations’ Northern Sydney Education office, as well as a centre for PhD students in education research and a conference and training centre.
“I welcome the State budget allocations, which ensure modern infrastructure continues to be delivered for the Davidson electorate,” Mr O’Dea concluded.
