Member for Davidson Jonathan O’Dea today announced that around $150,000 worth of safety and security improvements have been completed at Roseville Station.
The upgrade to the T1 North Shore Line station included new lighting for the commuter car park in Hill Street, upgraded lighting to the station footbridge, fencing repairs on the southern side of the station and Help Point signage improvements.
“The work that has recently been completed at Roseville forms part of a $20 million program being delivered by the NSW Government to improve safety and security at more than 40 stations around the network,” Mr O’Dea said.
“The safety and security of customers using the rail network is our top priority and this is why this major upgrade has been carried out.”
Across the rail network there are:
- thousands of CCTV cameras targeting crime and helping to improve commuter safety
- more than 750 emergency help points visible on CCTV, which allow customers to communicate directly with Sydney Trains staff
- around 7,000 high intensity lights to make identification of offenders by CCTV more effective
Sydney Trains also has a dedicated, 24/7 Rail Security Control Centre, capturing CCTV footage of offenders, which is used to support police prosecutions.
Work started on the Roseville Station upgrade in July 2015 and was completed on time and within budget last month.
The upgrade was delivered as part of the NSW Government’s Transport Access Program, an initiative to deliver modern, safe and accessible transport infrastructure.
