Jonathan O’Dea, Member for Davidson has welcomed a new NSW Government campaign promoting the benefits of a quality early childhood education.
The parent awareness campaign, which involves a series of print, online and radio advertisements, encourages families with young children to consider enrolling their children in an early childhood service.
Mr O’Dea said it is important for families in Davidson to understand the extensive emotional, social and cognitive benefits of a preschool education.
“Evidence shows that children who have access to a quality early childhood education start school better equipped with the skills to succeed,” Mr O’Dea said.
“The purpose of this campaign is to promote these benefits to those who might not be aware of the excellent early childhood services our state has to offer, including families from disadvantaged or linguistically diverse backgrounds.”
Minister for Early Childhood Education, Sarah Mitchell said that the campaign, which will be rolled out from January onwards, will feature children from Western Sydney, Dubbo and Chatswood.
“Children benefit from interaction with other pre-schoolers and top quality educators who will ensure their learning is enhanced during the formative years,” she said.
“90 per cent of a child’s brain development happens in their first five years, and as a mum myself, I know how quickly they change and grow during this period.
“The NSW Government is urging all families – no matter what their background – to seriously consider an early childhood setting for their children to ensure they have the best possible start to their educational journeys.”
