Member for Davidson, Jonathan O’Dea said the Davidson electorate was faring well in the fight against crime, with the latest Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research (BOCSAR) data painting a positive picture for the region.
Mr O’Dea said the region was following state-wide trends, with most major crimes and offences remaining stable or falling.
“There were no changes in the vast majority of offences committed in our local towns and cities over the last two years to December 2014,” Mr O’Dea said.
“BOCSAR reports some of the most serious offences have remained stable, while some are also falling.
“In the Warringah Local Government Area, which covers the eastern side of the Davidson electorate, there are some impressive downward trends in crime including:
- Motor Vehicle Theft, down 31.4%
- Steal from Motor Vehicle, down 30.9%
- Steal from Retail Store, down 18.1%
- Fraud, down 18.3%
- Malicious Damage to Property, down 29.1%
“The NSW Liberals & Nationals Government has worked hard to deliver extra police officers and resources as well as strengthen police powers to combat crime and this has been reflected in the crime data.
“Community members can assist police in the fight against crime by reporting incidents when they occur and remaining vigilant.
“I thank our local police officers for their hard work – these overwhelmingly positive statistics are testament to their efforts and success,” Mr O’Dea concluded.
