Liberal Member for Davidson has told Liberal Planning Minister Pru Goward that her recent comments in relation to planning on the north shore are "highly inappropriate".

"For many years, planning has been a sensitive issue on the north shore, particularly in the Ku-ring-gai Council area.

“Local MPs have encouraged the local community to accept its fair share of new development while criticising the bullying tactics and insensitivity of past Labor Planning Ministers." Mr O'Dea said.

Metropolitan Plan targets were agreed between the previous State Government and local councils.  In accordance with its target, Ku-ring-gai Council accepted and planned for delivery of 10,000 new dwellings by 2031.  It is ahead of schedule on actual delivery, having already approved local developments for well over half of this target.

"The reported statement of Minister Goward that 'You can't start exempting the north shore' and suggestion that the area is not accepting its fair share of new dwellings, is extremely hard to justify." Mr O'Dea concluded.
