Member for Davidson, Jonathan O’Dea today welcomed the introduction of 100 additional and extended weekly services for bus customers from 15 January as part of the NSW Government’s Growth Services Program.
“This Government is committed to delivering better public transport when and where it is needed and that is why we are making improvements to several bus routes in the local area,” said Mr O’Dea.
“These additional services are being introduced to cater for the extra demand from customers for services to and from Gordon, Macquarie Park, St Ives Chase, Belrose, Chatswood and Brookvale.
“The changes are designed to provide customers with a wider range of travel options. They will now have the choice of travelling earlier to avoid the busiest times in the morning and afternoon peaks, while there are also more travel options for customers travelling in the evening.”
Changes to services include:
- Additional weekly services on routes 195, 196 and 197, including more night time services on weekdays and extended hours of operation on weekends.
- Additional weekly early morning and peak services on route 270 from Terrey Hills to the Sydney CBD.
- Additional weekly early morning and peak services on route 280 from Chatswood to Warringah Mall, as well as extended operating hours from Warringah Mall on weekends.
The new services follow one of the biggest uplifts in public transport services ever, with almost 7,000 additional weekly bus services added to the timetable in late November.
This brings the number of new weekly bus services provided by the NSW Government since March 2011 to over 24,000.
