Member for Davidson, Jonathan O’Dea has urged the public to support Legacy, the iconic charity that cares for the families of deceased and incapacitated veterans.

Mr O’Dea said it is appropriate to recognise the important work undertaken by Legacy to assist those Australians affected by war.

“Legacy Week began on 31 August and runs until 6 September, with Legacy Badge Day this Friday, 5 September”, Mr O’Dea said.

“By buying a badge, residents in the Davidson electorate are showing their support for the thousands of Australian Defence Force personnel currently deployed overseas and the many more who have served throughout their lifetimes.

“So keep a look out at your local train station, shopping centre or workplace for those selling legacy badges and make sure you donate to this important cause.”

Funds raised will assist widows, widowers and children with essential services such as counselling, special housing, medical fees, advocacy and social support, as well as contribute towards children’s school fees, books, uniforms, and recreational activities.

Mr O’Dea also paid tribute to the contribution of volunteers across the Davidson electorate who will give up their time to distribute and sell the badges throughout Legacy Week.

“It is an event that would simply not be possible without the generosity of hundreds of volunteers who donate their time and energy to an important cause”, Mr O’Dea said.
