Member for Davidson, Jonathan O’Dea has announced improvements to Lindfield Station, thanks to the NSW Government’s $43 million investment in this year’s Station Refresh program.
“Customers want clean and modern stations, and over the last three years they’ve noticed the NSW Government is making the effort with customer satisfaction for station cleanliness across the network increasing from 74 to 86 percent,” Mr O’Dea said.
“The program is about giving stations some TLC and bringing them up to the standard Sydney Trains customers deserve. Work being carried out at Lindfield Station includes installing brighter, energy efficient lighting, painting and deep cleaning.
“We’ll also be upgrading basic facilities that the customers rely on every day, including seating, bins and water bubblers.
“There will be big improvements to the toilets, with new tiling, taps, mirrors and hand dryers. The tree root damage to the entry to platform one from the Lindfield Ave entrance will also be repaired,” Mr O’Dea said.
Other refresh work to be completed at Lindfield includes:
- improving gardens and landscaping
- pigeon proofing to improve cleanliness around stations
- installing new and improving existing handrails
- restoration work and improvements to heritage aspects of the building
Work is due to start by the end of November and will be completed by June next year. The refresh has been planned to minimise disruption to customers catching a train.
Mr O’Dea said the station’s heritage value will be respected during the work.
“Lindfield Station opened in 1890. So it is more than 100 years old.
“It’s not only important that its customers have a safe and appealing environment when they catch a train, but that heritage aspects are preserved for generations to come,” he said.
Lindfield and the 25 other train stations included in this year’s program will join the 87 stations already refreshed since the NSW Government started the program in 2013.
