The NSW Government is inviting community members to have their say on the urban design and landscape plan for the $500 million Northern Beaches Hospital road upgrade.
The draft plan includes designs for the Warringah Road underpass, pedestrian bridges and paths, landscaping and vegetation, noise walls and road signage.
Member for Davidson, Jonathan O’Dea said, “The NSW Government is delivering critical upgrades around the new hospital precinct to ensure the existing road network can cater for increased traffic volumes and provide customers with a better travel experience.
“An important aspect of the project is ensuring the design elements complement the existing surrounds and I encourage the local community to have their say and get involved,” Mr O’Dea said.
The urban design and landscape plan provides a guide for the materials, textures and plants to be used across the project. Some features include two new shared path bridges across Warringah Road to improve connectivity for pedestrians and cyclists and planting of native trees, including Duffy’s Forest vegetation.
The Northern Beaches road upgrades work includes widening Forest Way, Naree Road, Frenchs Forest Road West, Frenchs Forest Road East, Wakehurst Parkway and Allambie Road.
A new four lane underpass will also be built for Warringah Road along with intersection upgrades to improve traffic flow efficiency.
Mr O’Dea said, “The community is invited to learn more about the urban design and landscape plan at three information sessions which will be held at the Forest High School at 135 Frenchs Forest Road in Frenchs Forest.”
The first will be on Tuesday 14 June from 5pm to 7pm, with sessions also on Thursday 16 June from 5pm to 7pm and Saturday 18 June from 9am to 11am.
