Member for Davidson, Jonathan O’Dea, has urged first home buyers in Davidson to take advantage of NSW Government stamp duty relief measures.

New figures from the first quarter of this financial year show that 10,496 people have used the exemptions and reductions to buy their first home in the first quarter since the reforms came into effect.

Announced in the June Budget, the housing affordability package removed stamp duty for first home buyers for both new and existing homes for properties up to $650,000 and reduces duty for first homes between $650,000 and $800,000.

“This relief package has already opened the door for thousands of home owners across NSW and there’s more to come,” Mr O’Dea said.

“I urge young people in Davidson who aren’t aware of these reforms and think home ownership is out of reach to take a look at our relief package and consider their options, including entering the market in a more affordable area with a view to moving back to this area over time.

“Effective housing policy is a key priority of the Liberal-National Government after the last Labor government allowed the situation to stagnate,” Mr O’Dea said.

The NSW Government is focused on cutting the costs of living for the people of NSW. This includes reducing the price of children’s weekend sport through the Active Kids Rebate, energy rebates to help put downward pressure on energy bills, and CTP green slip relief.
