Julia Eagles has been named the Davidson Electorate’s 2016 Local Woman of the Year.

“Volunteering is a major part of Julia Eagles’ life. She makes a substantial contribution to the community and helps improve the lives of many people,” Member for Davidson, Jonathan O’Dea said.

Ms Eagles is a Volunteer in Policing with NSW Police. She extensively promotes their crime prevention initiatives at community and public events, and remains actively involved in her local Neighbourhood Watch as a volunteer Area Co-ordinator.

In addition to volunteering with Ku-ring-gai Council’s Bushcare and Street Care programs, Julia also helped set up the Metal Fabrication section of the Ku-ring-gai Community Workshop.

“Julia continues to volunteer at Ku-ring-gai Neighbourhood Centre where she is a companion visitor to 2 elderly clients in their home. Her commitment to our local community is unrelenting,” Mr O’Dea said.

Other past and current achievements of Ms Eagles include:

  • Ku-ring-gai Citizen on the Year 2014
  • Certificate of Appreciation, NSW Police Ku-ring-gai Local Area Command for 2200 hours of service
  • Certificate of Recognition of NSW Police for 2 years as a VIP
  • NSW Rotary Volunteer of the Year Award Finalist 2013

“Julia Eagles is an inspiration in our local community and particularly to other women who are looking for ways to make a contribution in their local area.

“Her commitment and hard work as a volunteer, especially as a Volunteer in Policing for NSW Police should be commended, and I am delighted to announce her as the Davidson Electorate’s 2014 Local Woman of the Year,” Mr O’Dea concluded.
