Funding has been allocated to build two new fire truck garages at the Davidson Rural Fire Brigade (RFS) station. This extension to the Davidson RFS Brigade building in the Davidson Electorate will be delivered at a cost of $168,000 as part of an investment to protect the local community from bushfires.
The local investment is part of a wider $314.6 million allocated to the Rural Firefighting Fund in the NSW Government’s 2015/16 budget.
Local member Jonathan O’Dea said this investment is critical to local RFS firefighters and will play a key role in keeping residents safe.
“The devastating effects of bushfires are never far from our minds, particularly in the lead-up to summer. It’s great to see this local RFS brigade benefit from this funding which supports their efforts to keep our community safe.
“These new facilities will support our volunteers whilst they assist their local community in times of need”, Mr O’Dea said.
Superintendent Craig Geddes, District Manager of Warringah Pittwater Rural Fire Service, said the investment in the electorate of Davidson is not only a boost to the local brigade but also to the local community.
“We will also continue to work with councils to develop local projects throughout the Davidson area”, Superintendent Geddes said.
