Member for Davidson, Jonathan O’Dea has welcomed a $50,000 NSW Government grant to improve facilities at St Ives Showground.
Mr O’Dea said that under the latest round of the Public Reserves Management Fund (PRMF) Program, the NSW Government has allocated over $12 million for upgrades to caravan parks, local parks and reserves, state parks and showgrounds across the state.
“Public reserves are wonderful assets that are highly valued by local communities and can be vital to the success of local sports, social clubs, business and tourism,” Mr O’Dea said.
“Showgrounds, caravan parks, and local parks and reserves are often the social and economic focal point of local communities, and this funding will allow community trust managers to carry out improvements that will bring greater social and economic benefits.
“I am very pleased to announce that as part of the funding, the Davidson electorate will receive $50,000 for the construction of a unisex accessible toilet, picnic shelters, tables, seating and BBQ facilities at St Ives Showground.
“By supporting these vital projects the NSW Government is supporting and promoting local economies as well as the role our wonderful volunteers play in the ongoing management of the Crown reserve system,” Mr O’Dea concluded.
Minister for Natural Resources, Lands and Water Kevin Humphries said the $12 million in funding that will be allocated in round two is in addition to more than $5 million recently announced for successful round one applicants.
“The PRMF is just one example of the NSW Government’s commitment to the cultural, sporting, environmental, economic and recreational life of communities across NSW,” Mr Humphries said.
