Bus services in Northern Sydney suburbs will benefit from a major boost with 158 extra weekly services being introduced for customers in the Davidson electorate starting from 11 April.

Member for Davidson, Jonathan O’Dea said today’s announcement affirms the NSW Government’s commitment to making public transport the number one option for customers and to increase services in Northern Sydney suburbs to key employment and education hubs.

“This Government has always said it would increase services in areas when and where they are needed most,” Mr O’Dea said.

“These extra services ensure we’re staying ahead of the curve and providing more capacity for growing hubs such as the City, Macquarie Park and Chatswood. Bus customers from St Ives, Terrey Hills and Killarney Heights/Forestville will benefit first hand from additional weekday peak and evening services running to the City.”

Mr O’Dea said the NSW Government has listened to feedback from customers and have increased services running between Mona Vale and Macquarie Park and Warringah Mall and Chatswood. It is also addressing improved accessibility to the Northern Beaches Hospital.

“The Government will continue to monitor demand and development activity in the area and consider further improvements to services through transport planning, to ensure customers are well serviced now and into the future,” Mr O’Dea said.

The 158 extra weekly services for Davidson electorate bus customers include:

  • 45 additional services on route 194 between St Ives and the City, providing extra weekday peak and early evening services as well as earlier and later weekend services
  • 5 additional services on route 197 between Mona Vale and Macquarie Park, providing extra morning peak services
  • 58 additional weekly services between Terrey Hills and the City, providing extra early and peak morning services on route 270, later evening services from Monday to Thursday and Sunday evening services on route 271
  • 10 additional weekly services on route 273 between Killarney Heights and the City, providing extra morning and afternoon peak services
