Students and staff are set to benefit from a $29 million major upgrade at St Ives North Public School as they begin moving into their new classrooms from Monday. Davidson MP Jonathan O’Dea said this was an exciting moment for the local community with the first stage of the school’s upgrade finished.
“I’m excited these new facilities are ready for our students and staff to use, they will allow the school to cater for up to 1,000 students” Mr O’Dea said.
The upgrade to St Ives North Public School includes a new three-storey building with 25 new classrooms, refurbishment of the special programs room in Block C, refurbishment of two classrooms in Block D, a new canteen and toilets as well as a new courtyard and landscaping.
The remainder of the upgrades, including the refurbishment of learning spaces in Block D and the new toilets, will be ready to use during Term 4 2020. St Ives North Public School Principal Christine Taylor celebrated the next chapter in the school’s history with the opening of the new home-base building.
“We are proud of the modern facilities for our students that enables flexible, technology-rich, knowledge-building learning. It will serve us well as we continue our focus on excellence, innovation, opportunity and success for our students.

I'd like to thank our community for their patience during construction. I am sure you'll be as pleased as we are with the outcome,” Ms Taylor said.
The NSW Government is investing $6.7 billion over the next four years to deliver more than 190 new and upgraded schools to support communities across NSW. In addition, a record $500 million is being invested in the sustainable Cooler Classrooms program to provide air conditioning to schools. This is the largest investment in public education infrastructure in the history of NSW.
