Member for Davidson, Jonathan O’Dea has welcomed the settlement of land transfers, which open the way for new recreational facilities in Belrose.
Mr O’Dea said three blocks in Wyatt Avenue will boost both active and passive recreation for Belrose and beyond.
“The deal is done and dusted, following settlement of the land transfer on Friday,” Mr O’Dea said.
“I brokered an agreement, with support from NSW Government Ministers, to transfer parcels of former TAFE land to the Northern Beaches Council for just $1.00, on the basis that the Council would deliver the new facilities promptly,” Mr O’Dea said.
The Council’s planning phase will be conducted in the 2019-20 financial year, with construction delivering the finished project in 2020-21.
Concept plans indicate two blocks could host three futsal courts, as well as a shelter with seating, and a community building with change rooms and toilets.
The third block, on the corner of Forest Way, is expected to become a passive recreation area.
It is expected community consultation through the Council will play a key role in the final plans for the land.
“I am delighted to see these blocks transferred for the benefit of the local community,” Mr O’Dea said.
